SANTA BARBARA BIRTHPLACE OF IMPACTMANIA Women Collaborators Launch Online Magazine

Santa Barbara, CA (January 19, 2016) — Building on the successful book launch, Impact X, Paksy Plackis-Cheng founded impactmania. The online magazine features thinkers and doers around the world who drive impact in the following categories: Arts & Culture, Business, Human Interests, and Science & Technology.

Impactmania is a collaboration with writer and videographer, Melissa Walker, and other contributors worldwide. In Santa Barbara, contributors include UC Santa Barbara’s PhD candidates Chelsea Catania and Leah Kuritzky, and Westmont College student, Chad Sykes.

The Santa Barbara issue includes video-interviews with Laurie Ashton, Nuclear Zero’s lead counsel; two-time Emmy award-winning composer, Trevor Morris; and fitness phenomenon, Jenny Schatzle.

Impactmania’s premier issue also provides insight into the work of social entrepreneur and Westmont College alumna, Teresa Law; and honors the late philanthropist, Léni Fé Bland.

Each month, guests are asked about their favorite impact makers. Painter, Masha Keating, talks about her inspiration, Tom Wudl, and Santa Barbara photographer, Kevin Steele, shares his photograph of Eckhart Tolle, named the most spiritually influential person in the world by Watkins Review (2011).

Impactmania also caught up with Jack Nadel, entrepreneur and award-winning author of The Evolution of an Entrepreneur, a book supported by many business leaders.

As impactmania launches editions in cities and countries around the globe, Santa Barbara coverage will be ongoing.

The magazine will officially launch with a celebration at the UC Santa Barbara Art, Design and Architecture (AD&A) Museum, on February 19, from 5:30- 7:30 PM, with videos from impact makers.

“The AD&A Museum, which is part of UC Santa Barbara, is a natural fit for the launch of this incredible venture,” says Elyse A. Gonzales, AD&A Museum Acting Director and Curator of Exhibitions. “Our campus, as well as the Museum serve as creative incubators for some of the most innovative projects happening in the arts, humanities, and sciences, many of which are interdisciplinary. We are delighted to host this event and look forward to more collaborations with impactmania.”
